St. Patrick’s Day is always an important time in the MaSamba camp, and this year is no exception!
This year, as always, we are involved in a whole series of events, some big, some small, some very public, some almost invisible, some for the world to see, and some that might only mean something to band members and friends – variety, as they say, is the spice of life!… Read More
As the dust settles on a really busy period of work for the band, it is time to sort out the mess, evaluate and move on, into the 2nd half of the year.
Today, we finished up our annual project with the boys of Scoil Iosagain in Crumlin, with a series of five unique performances, by five totally unique samba bands. All of them played really well, and the response from the audience of parents, peers and teachers was justifiably positive!

As the year draws to its conclusion, it’s a good time to look over what MaSamba Samba School did in 2011, what music we played, who we worked with, and who we partied with!

This, year, for the first time in at least 10 years, we don’t have an ‘official’ Hallowe’en gig – boooo!

Sunglasses have become compulsory in the MaSamba rehearsal space this week, but not because of the sunny weather!
Our new drums, courtesy of Contemporanea, have finally arrived, and they look great! The lovely, shiny chrome is a sight to behold!
On top of that, our friends in Sabian have sent over some new Picante Hand Cymbals, so that our hand drummers can add some crashy, trashy sounds to… Read More
MaSamba’s annual pilgrimage to the banks of the Boyne is almost here, and this year, we are headlining the Saturday night gig in the Purple Room.
The ‘Global Grooves’ shows at the Purple Room have become the official festival fringe, and feature some of the best percussion acts from around the country each year. For our show we will be supported by our friends from Belfast, Beat n Drum… Read More
Behind the scenes, we have been working away on planning for our mini tour of the Chicago area in October of this year.
This trip, which is part of the Culture Ireland Imagine Ireland project will see the band headlining the Chicago Brazilian Music Festival, and playing at the prestigious Irish American Heritage Center, as well as delivering workshops with local music colleges and disadvantaged children.

We learned today, that most of the costumes for our next big pageant ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ are ready, and being packed into numerous boxes for shipping.
We are delighted with the initial photos we have seen, and can’t wait to open up these boxes when they arrive, and marvel at the expert work of our Sao Paulo costume team.
Also, we are just about ready… Read More
