Variety is the Spice of Life (stamina important too!)

St. Patrick’s Day is always an important time in the MaSamba camp, and this year is no exception!

This year, as always, we are involved in a whole series of events, some big, some small, some very public, some almost invisible, some for the world to see, and some that might only mean something to band members and friends – variety, as they say, is the spice of life!… Read More

Longest Day of the Year

As the dust settles on a really busy period of work for the band, it is time to sort out the mess, evaluate and move on, into the 2nd half of the year.

An overview of our schedule for the Summer Solstice – not much time for communing with nature, I'm afraid!

Day by Day

Today, we finished up our annual project with the boys of Scoil Iosagain in Crumlin, with a series of five unique performances, by five totally unique samba bands. All of them played really well, and the response from the audience of parents, peers and teachers was justifiably positive!

Quiet Hallowe’en for the Drums of Dublin

This, year, for the first time in at least 10 years, we don’t have an ‘official’ Hallowe’en gig – boooo!

We are however, travelling to Virginia, Co. Cavan on Sunday, to perform at the infamous ‘Pumpkin Festival‘, which has always had a sort of Hallowe’en theme. This year, as always, we will be bringing up a pretty big crew of drummers and dancers to add some colour and… Read More

The Future’s So Bright, We Have to Wear Shades!

Sunglasses have become compulsory in the MaSamba rehearsal space this week, but not because of the sunny weather!

Our new drums, courtesy of Contemporanea, have finally arrived, and they look great! The lovely, shiny chrome is a sight to behold!

On top of that, our friends in Sabian have sent over some new Picante Hand Cymbals, so that our hand drummers can add some crashy, trashy sounds to… Read More
