A round-up of the latest maSamba happenings..

Samhlaiocht Chiarrai

Great Stuff! We are back in the Kingdom for the excellent Samhlaiocht Chiarrai Festival. We are parading through the town from 8pm and then playing a couple of short stage sets afterwards.

Peter Keenan Fundraiser

As many of you will know‚ Peter Keenan‚ a stalwart of maSamba and many other band‚ was diagnosed with cancer of the throat earlier in the year.

Peter is an amazingly positive force within maSamba and is always the first to volunteer his time and skills for any project‚ no matter what. It is therefore fitting that we should try to give something back to him‚ at his time of need.

Luckily for us‚ many of our colleagues in the drumming community agree‚ and with the aid of our partners in the Music Maker (www.musicmaker.ie)‚ we have put together a spectacular night of drumming and percussion‚ featuring some of the very best players in Ireland.

The full line-up is to be finalised but for the moment‚ we know we have:

Pipe Band - Drum Corps of the St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band
(1st public performance since winning the world championships)
Orchestral - Noel Eccles (Riverdance)‚ Richard O’Donnell (RIAM)‚ Derek Bolger (Army No. 1 band)‚ Derek Doyle‚ Lloyd Byrne‚ James Dunne (RTE Concert Orchestra)

The show is on Monday‚ September 25th at Spirit‚ Middle Abbey Street‚ Dublin 1‚ and costs €20. The show will start promptly at 8pm with one of the best performances of the night‚ so BE ON TIME.

On Saturday night‚ we will form part of the parade‚ accompanying the Roses through the town. This was an amazing event the last time we played it several years ago‚ so it should be blast
