Today was one of those magic days that make being in MaSamba so worthwhile.
This morning, I was up in Castleblayney for my third workshop with a groups of local children, in preparation for the Muckno Mania Festival Parade tomorrow night. After only three sessions this group has two pieces of music down as well as some calls and responses, and they are well on the way towards a great performance tomorrow night.
A little sample of their work can be seen here – it’s well worth watching! http://youtu.be/7qtU8cYQqfA
Immediately after that, it was in the car and down to Navan to lead a small band and dancers for a wedding celebration. The wedding was of an Irish woman and Australian man who met for the first time in Brasil, and both the couple, and their guests were really great people. The staff of the venue, the Boyne Hill Hotel were really easy to work with as well, and all in all, it was a pleasure to play for these great people.
Also, as if the day couldn’t get any better, I experienced two things for the first time:
Cherry Ripe chocolate bars – I am so delighted that these are only on sale in Australia, because I think I would have no teeth left pretty quickly if I could get them here
Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer – pretty decent stuff after a long day!
