All this week, Simeon has been ‘trapped’ in the office, helping our primary funders Pobal with an extensive audit of all our activities and procedures. On top of that, we have had a number of deadlines for funding and proposals for upcoming shows, so it really has been an ‘office’ week.
However, that’s not to say that we haven’t been busy delivering the samba nationwide!
Jenni and Brian have been up to Castleblayney 3 times delivering workshops with local children and adults, in advance of the Muckno Mania Festival, which takes place there this weekend – the band will travel there on Sunday to perform at the festival, and to play alongside Ireland’s newest samba band!
Sarah has been out in Ballymun twice working with the Munch Samba Band, once for a regular rehearsal and once to assist them in a performance. This group is working towards a big show for the IKEA first birthday celebrations at the end of the month, and Sarah will be with them every inch of the way.
This week also saw the second session in our own Summer Drumming camp for young people from the inner city. Numbers grew a little this week, and the music is progressing well
Of course, we also had our own regular rehearsals, which were particularly good this week, despite the heat!
So, a busy week in the office, and a busier week in the field!
