The Community that is MaSamba

July 29th, 2010 by Simeon

After a busy week of workshops and rehearsals, and a busy weekend ahead, one would think that the MaSamba membership would be taking at easy, but NO!

In an amazing day of volunteering tomorrow, we have three separate things going on…

Kelly, JP, Sarah and Fabio are coming in in the morning to do a homemade photoshoot of our new costumes for the Bloco Afro Brasil project, so that we can show others, especially bookers, what we have in the pipeline. On top of that, Simon is providing his photographic skills, and equipment, to make sure we get some decent shots.

Round about the same time, Marty and his Dad are coming in to the rehearsal space to fit some kitchen units and a worktop, so that we can have a tidier catering facility. The guys are not only providing their time fee, but have sourced all the materials too, which is pretty amazing!

later on, Ruth and Sarah are taking some time to work repairing and improving on our existing costume stock, which is really important now, after such a busy few months of wear and tear!

Far from the bright lights of the shows, it is this work that keep MaSamba going, and it has been commented on many times, how MaSamba’s teamwork is second to none!

Of course, Simeon will have the most important job of all – buying the biscuits and making the tea!
