Right, Down To Business!

With less than a week to go to ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’, things are really happening on the creative front!

We will have drumming rehearsal three evenings this week, now that the MaSamba massive have flown back from various exotic locations around the world. The arrangements are more or less there, but now it is the less glamorous work of running them again and again and….again, until we’re happy with them.

Kelly is also very busy rehearsing with the dance groups and making sure that everyone is briefed for the day, and that costumes, etc. are all fitting properly and looking amazing.

On the costume front, a very special thanks goes out to JP Albuquerque, who has dropped everything to go to Sao Paulo in order to collect the last 50 costumes in person. We will owe him a few pints on Saturday night!

The Drums, the Drums!! Some of the excellent Contemporanea surdos we will be using for 'The Boys Are Back In Town'.

Simeon has been working away with the drums, getting them sounding great, and making sure that this pageant has ‘MaSamba’ written all over it (or at least the drumskins!).

On top of that, there are requests for radio interviews, television appearances, and general madness all sides – now it’s starting to be fun!
