A New Chapter Begins…

As the school year ends, a lot of our projects wind down for the Summer months, and the nature of the work in MaSamba changes somewhat.

While we could do with a break, after a number of hectic week, we are delighted that a couple of new projects begin next week.

Firstly, Simeon will be delivering an inservice course for teachers in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra.  Entitled ‘World Music and Drumming – a Hands On Approach to the Curriculum’, this course will involve tuned percussion, African drumming, and Samba, and will be a chance for teachers to explore how they can deliver the Music Curriculum in a practical way, using various percussion techniques. It should be great craig, and we’re really looking forward to it.

Also this week, we begin a new project with our old friends from Bradóg Regional Youth Service, who are based in the Dublin 7 area. This project will work right through until September, when the group will perform at the opening of a new youth café in the Bradóg building. The young people involved in Bradóg are always fun to work with, and we have great hopes for this new group.

We will also be gigging on Thursday evening at Croke Park, so the first week of the Summer ‘holidays’ promises to be a busy one – hopefully the rest will be the same!
