Hallowe’en is on the horizon, and we are preparing for the Celtic New Year in the only way we know how – with plenty of drumming!
This year, we will be based almost exclusively in the North East Inner City of Dublin – an area where we have spent many a Hallowe’en night over the years. This year, we will be blitzing the area, with workshops in five local schools and at least three performances on the board.
We have teamed up with Dublin City Council and the Big Scream to work with the following the projects: ASESP, Larkin College, Rutland National School, Marino College and the Central Model Senior School - all of which will receive a short series of drumming workshops. The plan is to bring all these amazing young people together for at least one massed performance, and the possibility to collaborate with us on events over the mid-term break.
In addition, we have just started a major project with St. Vincent’s Junior School. We will work with all seven classes in the school over the entire school year, developing a programme of percussion-based games, and rhythms – and possibly hosting a performance or two – more to follow on this one.
This week alone, we will deliver 15 workshops for 8 different organisations, totalling around 215 people. Next week that will rise to 20 workshops with 10 organisations and over 400 participants.
So, if you’re in the NEIC over the next couple of months, you may not see us, but you will definitely hear us!
